"Taffy"
I become interested in the hobby of showing dogs when I was 10 years old and joined the local 4H club in the Portland, Oregon area (where I was raised). I quickly became hooked on the sport of training and exhibiting my dogs. My first "project" was my mixed breed dog named "Taffy". She was smart as a whip and we did very well in obedience and Junior Showmanship. Somewhere along the line....I fell deeply in love with the German Shepherd Dog. Unfortunately, my father was raised to believe that all German Shepherds were mean dogs and it took a bit of convincing to get him to agree to letting me purchase my first GSD. But eventually he wore down, and I purchased Tosha of Hidden Forest (pictured below with her son Trucker) when I was 12 years old. While Tosha was no conformation "star", she was the one who sparked my passion in showing GSD's in the conformation ring. Tosha's wonderful breeders (Hidden Forest Kennels) were very good to me, mentored me and allowed me to show a few of their dogs at local shows. It didn't take long for me to totally fall in love with this breed and become enthralled with the hobby of showing these great dogs!
The more I showed dogs, the more I DREAMED of someday owning my first champion GSD. I bred Tosha to one of the males at Hidden Forest Kennels. She had a big litter of nine puppies. I picked out a large handsome sable male by the name of "Trucker" to keep and show. Trucker was a very handsome boy, but he didnt particularly care for the show ring. After a few years, I moved to Georgia with my family and my two shepherds. Trucker hated the city life and I had no choice other than to place him with a family in the country. Tosha passed away from cancer at the age of 10. After finishing college and getting married...I finally began my hunt for my next shepherd. I met Ann & Carl Aller of Amherst Kennels and they allowed me to adopt Lexus!! Not only did I get a wonderful dog who I treasured...I also gained two wonderful friends!! Lexus is the foundation behind all of my dogs now. Lexie made MY DREAM COME TRUE when her daughter gave me not only one champion, but TWO!! Thank you for dropping by my website and I hope you enjoy visiting with my "family"!
